Was das Silmarillion für Tolkiens Welt bedeutet, das ist dieses Buch hier für die Welt von Game of Thrones. Von Anbeginn der Zeit werden alle Länder und Völker ausführlich vorgestellt. Dazu die Geschichte der jeweiligen Herrscherhäuser. Nun mag einen da nicht der letzte Nebenzweig eines jeden Hauses interessieren, und man muss die wohl wirklich nicht alle kennen, aber die drei oder vier Hauptdynastien helfen schon sehr beim Verstehen der Hintergründe von Game of Thrones.Das Buch ist reich bebildert mit durchweg gelungener Qualität. Der Stil ist der des realistischen, epischen Fantasybildes wie schon vor Jahrzehnten bei den Tolkienwelten oder bei Boris Vallejo zu sehen. Also nichts groß "Künstlerisches", sondern vertraute Kost. Wird daher 99% der Lesererwartungshaltung voll erfüllen.Drei Stammbäume am Ende (Stark, Lannister, Targaeryen) sowie Zeitstrahl helfen beim Eintauchen in die vielen Namen. Siehe Silmarillion. Was nun genau an dem Buch von Martin selbst geschrieben wurde, und was von den Co-Autoren, lässt sich nicht sagen.Fazit: Auch wenn es schade ist, dass Martin für dieses Buch seine kostbare Zeit geopfert hat (statt endlich Winds of Winter zu finalisieren), so ist das Buch dennoch ein Kleinod für den Fan von Game of Thrones. Nichts jedoch für Gelegenheitskucker der HBO Serie. Mann sollte schon etwas Bereitschaft mitbringen, um sich durch Dynastische Intrigen und uralte Zwiste zu lesen. Sonst ist das Buch nur ein teurer Staubfänger zum Angeben im Bücherregal.
What's there left to say with all these great reviews already? Well, it is a really greatly written book with a great insight on the History of the World of Ice and Fire. What I especially love a lot are the illustrations all across the book, because they bring life to every page you read and every character and place it's telling you about. A must-have for anyone who is invested in learning more about the world this book series plays in. And it's perfect to get over the time waiting for the next book!
Inhalt:GRRM wollte mit TWoI&F ja eine Art Geschichtsbuch zu seiner fiktiven Welt verfassen u das ist ihm meiner Meinung nach auch sehr gut gelungen. Die optische Aufmachung erinnert tatsächlich an "alte" Historienbücher oder an Lexika . Dadurch macht es umso mehr Spaß das Buch zu lesen oder auch nur mal hin u wieder hineinzuschnuppern. Ja, es stimmt schon, aufmerksame Leser der Romane und/oder aufmerksame Fans der Serie werden hier nur wenig Neues erfahren. Ich, als Fan von Roman u Serie, habe schon vllt 95% des Inhalts von TWoI&F grob gekannt. Dennoch hat es mir sehr viel Spaß gemacht, dieses grobe Wissen noch weiter zu vertiefen u mehr Details über sämtliche Themen zu erfahren, vor allem jene, die mir vorher entweder gar nicht erst aufgefallen sind oder die ich schon längst wieder vergessen habe. Obwohl das Werk einem Geschichtsbuch gleichen soll, ist es neben dem Detailreichtum dennoch auch spannend u mitreißend geschrieben.Auch die Illustrationen sind wunderschön. U auch voller wichtiger Details, die einem beim kurzen Hinsehen, womöglich entfallen würden. Jede Doppelseite hat mindestens eine Illustration. Die Bilder sind unterschiedlich groß, die kleinsten sind ca. so groß wie eine Handfläche und die größten sind eine Doppelseite groß. Bevor ich mim Lesen angefangen habe, habe ich mir mal alle Illustrationen genauer angeschaut. Allein das hat schon ca. 2 stunden gedauert. ^^ In diesem Sinne muss ich auch zugeben, dass das Buch mit den vielen bunten Bildern fast wie ein Kinderbuch bzw. ein Geschichtsbuch für Kinder wirkt, was jetzt natürlich nicht abwertend gemeint ist, sondern dem ganzen Werk eben auch wieder Charme verleiht.Die englische Sprache ist (meiner Meinung nach) sehr einfach gehalten. Fortgeschrittenes Schulenglisch sollte, so denke ich, ausreichen, um den Inhalt zu verstehen. Aber so nebenbei: Ich finde die Qualität u die Aufmachung der englischen Version viel schöner u hochwertiger als die der deutschen Version.Material:Das Papier ist etwas stärker. Risse u Eselsohren können somit nicht so einfach entstehen. Der "Nachteil" (wenn man es denn so sehen mag) von diesem stärkeren Papier ist dann ihr dementsprechendes Gewicht. Das Buch wiegt um die 2kg u ist etwas größer als A4.Das Cover ist auch hochwertig. Wie es aussieht, kann man ja hier sehen. Das Material ist matt u fühlt sich leicht gepolstert an, wie eben das Cover manch alter Lexika.Die Farben der Illustrationen u des Textes sind kräftig. Obwohl die Bilder quasi auf "alt" getrimmt sind (für die Illusion, dass es sich hierbei um ein altes Geschichtsbuch handelt) sind die Farben dennoch glänzend u kraftvoll.
Das komplett farbige Buch ist wunderschön gemacht und man erfährt viele Hintergründe aus der Welt von ASOIAF und GOT.Es ist komplett auf Englisch und ist aufgebaut wie ein Geschichtsbuch - es liest sich auch etwas wie eines! Das sollte man sich vor dem Kauf bewusst machen. Somit könnte es etwas Trocken sein, das ganze auf einen Streich durchzulesen. Man sollte es eher als Nachschlagewerk nutzen.Allein wegen den Illustrationen ist hier aber das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis top!
Written from the perspective of a maester this book does provide the history of the world of Ice & Fire. The history is quite rich and interesting to read. However, this book does not have dialogue or creates suspense. Therefore, if the backstory does not interest one, one should not buy this book. Furthemore, this book does not answer any questions about Robert's rebellion.
Ist ein Geschenk, habe diesmal schon früh an Weihnachten gedacht, das Buch ist sehr schön, mit Bildern, sehr hochwertig, wird sicher eine riesen Freude für einen GOT-Fan, also wenn man einem solchen was schenken will, eine perfekt Wahl!Ist sehr groß, größer als erwartet :) Zum Inhalt kann ich nichts sagen, weil noch nicht gelesen, borg es mir dann nach dem 24. bei meinem Freund aus ;)
Recommandable backgroundstory for the song of ice and fire universe. Not that you get it wrong, you won't spoiler yourself who Jons mother is or something like that. The whole book is intended to be like a present from a maester to the current king. So it only contains what is officially known within the history of Westeros and Essos.It also has a very nice cover.
